Dangerous Decimals
Walt: identify the relationship between fractions and decimals
Decimals are fractions of 1 whole.
0.1 is 1/10.
0.01 is 1/100.
What is 2/10 as a decimal? 0.2
What is 6/10 as a decimal? 0.6
What is 7/100 as a decimal? 0.07
What is 18/100 as a decimal? 0.18
What is 1/1000 as a decimal? 0.001
What is 7/1000 as a decimal? 0.007
What is 24/100 as a decimal? 0.24
What is 55/100 as decimal? 0.55
What is 12/10 as a decimal? 0.12
0.5 + 0.3 = 0.8
0.6 + 0.2 = 0.8
0.7 + 0.5 = 1.2
0.5 - 0.1 = 0.4
0.3 + 0.9 = 1.2
5/10 + 0.5 = 1
1/10 + 0.47 = 0.57
5/100 + 0.21 = 0.26
Task Description: For this task I made a copy of the doc and then put it into my Math Folder. I then answered all of the word questions and moved onto the symbol questions. When I finished I posted it onto my blog with a Title, a Walt, a Task Description, and Labels.

Fabulous Fractions
We are learning to identify the relationship between fractions.
What is 2/4 of 50? 25
What is ½ of 50? 25
What is 4/4 of 8? This is the same as 8/8
What is ⅕ of 10? 2
What is 2/10 of 10? 2
What is ⅓ of 12? 4
What is 2/6 of 12? 4
What is 1/13 of 26? 2
What is 2/26 of 26? 2
What do you notice about these fractions?
After the first one the second one has the same answer.
Show your working for the remainder of the problems
I have 2/16 of a cake at a birthday party. I keep going back for more and eat another 6/16 of a cake. What fraction of a cake have I eaten altogether? 2/16 + 6/16 = 8/16
⅓ + ⅔ = ⅓ + ⅔ = 3/3
⅙ + 2/6 = ⅙ + 2/6 = 3/6
12/25 + 3/25 = 12/25 + 3/25 = 15/25
I have 5/21 of a cake left over from the party. Then I give 3/21 of a cake to my sisters. What fraction of a cake do I have left over? 5/21 + 3/21 = 8/21
½ + 2/4 = 1
3/6 + ⅔ = 1 ⅓
⅕ + 2/10 = ⅖ / 4/10
What is 2/4 of 50? 25
What is ½ of 50? 25

Team building recount
Walt : use a variety of sentence structures and punctuation in our writing
Year 7 team building was fun. It was one of the funnest things i have ever done. We did all sorts of activities that brought people out of their shells. Let me tell you what happened.
The first things we did we're very productive like making a banner and creating a piece of material and put it around our wrist or around our calf or around our hair. We then had a chant to share with our banners. My group was called the purple panthers and the leaders were me and King. We got called up to share our our Chant. The year sevens counted us in and we said our chant: “Purple Panthers! Come at us we’ll knock you down! Purple panthers! We’re the ones who wear the crowns. Purple Panthers!” Clap, Clap, Stomp, Stomp, “Raahh”
My favourite activity though was the cooking. We made pikelets with a very simple recipe. The recipe was this:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of milk
1 egg
Me and King Mixed all the ingredients into a batter witch we could tell was ready because it was light and fluffy. We buttered up the pan and then we put in a ladle of batter and made it nice and round. I had such an amazing relationship the the spatula whenever i was about to flip i would go "1,2,3, and flip!". I turned the pike let over and the pike let was nice and brown. I turned it over again and it was brown on both sides it was ready to be decorated.
I went to the table where Ms. Sio and some girls were decorating the pikelets. I picked 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream, Chocolate chips, Jelly topping, and whipped cream. It was delicious and it made my mouth explode with it scrumptious taste. I think i had about three that day.
I think a few days after camp my stepmum’s friend came over and I decided you know what i’m going to make some pike lets for my brothers and Deb’s son (Deb is my stepmum's friend), and the recipe was so simple that I think it will stay with me forever. Thank you Ms. Sio for sharing the recipe with everyone and teaching me how to cook the pike lets.

Task Description: For this task I made a copy of a google doc and then i put it in my writing folder. WE were supposed to only do one thing about team building but i did one paragraph about 1 and the rest of the recount was about another.
