What makes a Good Person?

Are you a good person? How can you tell? There’s got to be some things that make people good. So what are they. In this essay I will label key characteristics that create a good person.

Respect. Everyone likes someone who knows to be respectful to others. Respect is something everyone, no matter what gender race or upbringing, deserves. You’re ability to recognise that makes you a good person.

Humility. Being humble is something that people need to do more these days. Humility gives us the ability to share our help without showing disregard to another person’s needs. For example: if someone is good at math and they are helping other people they will help the person without saying how simple they think it is.

Compassion. If you sympathise with other people you’re more likely to help them and you’ll find yourself helping people more. Getting into the habit of it will create a new way for you to get a good attitude about the way you are impacting other people’s lives. Making your life live to its utmost potential.

If you take these qualities and put them into your daily life. You will mature as a person and find the ability to make better decisions. It won’t be easy but you will be a good person. If we gather these qualities as a species, we can make the world a better place

Waiuku Forest Trail Running

Today Jayne, Justice, Roman, Kauri and I went on a 7 kilometre trail run in the Waiuku Forest. Before we started we were given instructions and I was nervous and excited. We started at the line and then we were off! It was a slow start and then we all sped up. Justice and Roman being the competitive speedy boys they are zoomed ahead and I went a bit ahead of Jayne and Kauri. But as I started to get a bit tired I slowed down and Jayne and Kauri caught up to me. So I ran with Jayne.

Around 2 kilometres to the end of the run I could see people running towards us with mud just covering their bodies. Me and Jayne were having a hard time figuring out whether we wanted to get muddy or not. I heard peoples' screams as they got covered in mud and decided I was going to save them. But I was the main person who needed saving. Before I came up to the mud I hesitated and then just decided to do the most fun thing. I ran two steps into the mud and face planted into the ground. My PALE PINK SHOES will probably never recover. RIP sports shoes.
One thing I know for sure is that I will never complain about the cross country again.

Colonization

Colonisation is an old way of gathering land under one nation or empire. It’s been going on for thousands of years but the first world countries, only stopped around a couple hundred years ago. That still doesn’t mean that 2rd and 3nd world countries have stopped, and even now the commonwealth is still a remnant of the British empire which was an empire based on colonisation.

Colonisation has been around for thousands and thousands of years. The Romans used it, the Incas used it, the Greeks used it, the Spanish used it, the British used it. Many countries are still under the influence of colonisation. Most of Africa is still under the rule of colonising leaders. Even though many countries are now independent, lots of countries are still being colonised.

Does colonisation have any benefits? In short: No. Although many colonisers believe they are helping people by giving them new technology, they aren’t helping the natives. The best jobs end up going to the colonisers. The natives end up becoming slaves and the colonisers never give the natives even some middle grade job opportunities. Colonisation has hardly ever had any good benefits for the natives, only for the invaders.

Some colonisation however have had peaceful resolves. Such as the treaty of Waitangi between the British Empire and the Maori people of New Zealand. The Brits came to New Zealand and they suggested that they create a treaty and the Maori agreed. But because of the differences between the Maori and English texts there was conflict. So then the government decided to create the Waitangi tribunal and we’ve been working to create a better environment for the Maori ever since.

Colonisation was brutal period that helped shape our history. The only good that it ever gave anyone was the ability to realise our mistakes. Hopefully in the future people will take a look at the things we did and try to stop themselves from going down that rocky path again.

Greece

Greece is a country in Europe. It has thousands of islands that are located in the aegean and ionian seas. The official language of greece is greek and there are around 10.77 million people living in greece.

History

Greece was very influential in the past and the ancient Greeks are known as the founders of the modern world. Before the civilisation of ancient Greece the Greeks lived in scattered farming villages all around the country and islands. Over the years the population grew and the villages grew as well. The Greeks then started up a government and started to create laws. They started up armies and collected taxes and each city or state had a patron god or goddess. The ancient Greek gods and myths are still a popular subject to this day.

Culture and Traditions

Culture and traditions are a very important aspect to the Greek culture. There are traditions from either religious character or paganism. Traditions and superstitions vary from island to island, Region to Region. They have many celebrations such as Name day celebration, Carnivals or Apokries, Clean Monday and more.

Wildlife

Greece has more to offer than amazing mythology and cliff side cities, Greece also has great wildlife and plants. In the Findus mountains you can find brown bears The Eurasian lynx and the western roe deer live in Greece’s mountainous regions and in the south, the wild boar and brown hare can still be found. The golden jackal and the western European hedgehog also live in the south.

So there you have it a short report on Greece I hope you enjoyed this small amount of information and facts. I hope you enjoyed and have a good day ya’ll.

Why should Facebook be more Vigilant when it comes to Underage users?

Do you have a Facebook account? If you do and you’re under 13 then you aren’t really following the law.
Facebook is a social media site that used to be one of the biggest social media sites in the world.
But not everything about social media is true.

There are people on the world wide web who aren’t really the most responsible, and because they can’t
target adults who are smarter than children, they target children. Children don’t know what to do so they
do what there instincts tell them, their instincts aren’t always right. Children usually end up doing what
the person tells then to do, and once it’s done it can’t be undone. That is what children don’t understand.

For Facebook users under the age of 13, Facebook and social media isn’t the safest place,
because there are a lot of bad influential content that is not  suitable for younger users.
If an account with a under-aged user is found Facebook must be provided with information that shows
their over 13. It would be more suitable if under-aged kids could be banned because they haven’t really
experienced the world of social activities.

Another reason that not many people take into consideration when they sign someone up is that the
person could make a secret account and then be cyberbullies. They end up hurting other people and
then they get caught. The parents end up finding out and the parents get the blame because they are
responsible because they gave their kid and account.

So here are three reasons Facebook should be more vigilant when it comes to underage users.
Inexperience in social activities, bad people on the internet, and potential cyberbullying. Facebook has
too many underage users and should be more persistent and vigilant when it comes to the law.

How to be a good Leader

Walt: Follow the structure of an explanation.
How to be a good leader is a particularly hard question to answer. It’s a very opinionated question, and there many different leaders in different eyes of different people. So in this piece of writing I will give examples of different types of leaders.

Responsibility. This is a trait that most people associate with leadership. Responsibility is the characteristic that in most people is taking the blame or baring the weight of a certain situation. Often leaders do this and try to work it out with a little bit of help from the people closest to them. A phrase commonly associated with responsibility is “take responsibility for your actions”. Well some people think that leaders do that a lot.

Respect. Another trait associated with leadership is Respect. Respect is a feeling of deep admiration and support. It’s also a way to say “I recognise you as a person and I understand that you are the same as me but also not, so I will treat you properly.” Good leaders know how to show this trait and people respect them for it.

Kindness. Ruling with an iron fist is not really the best thing to do. It shows fear and fear does not earn respect. Kind leaders are often respected by most people who wish to also be respected. When people are scared of a leader they’re more likely to turn their back on the person ruling with an iron fist.

So there you have it a bit of a summary on How to be a good leader. Responsibility, Respect and Kindness. These traits are the key things for a good leader. Hopefully for those who wish to become a leader you will take these traits as suggestions and keep them in mind.

Task Description: For this task I made a google doc and filed it. I wrote down things that make a good leader.  I posted it onto my blog, making sure I posted it to a high standard with a Walt, a Task Description, and Labels.
