How to be a good Leader
Walt: Follow the structure of an explanation.
How to be a good leader is a particularly hard question to answer. It’s a very opinionated question, and there many different leaders in different eyes of different people. So in this piece of writing I will give examples of different types of leaders.
Responsibility. This is a trait that most people associate with leadership. Responsibility is the characteristic that in most people is taking the blame or baring the weight of a certain situation. Often leaders do this and try to work it out with a little bit of help from the people closest to them. A phrase commonly associated with responsibility is “take responsibility for your actions”. Well some people think that leaders do that a lot.
Respect. Another trait associated with leadership is Respect. Respect is a feeling of deep admiration and support. It’s also a way to say “I recognise you as a person and I understand that you are the same as me but also not, so I will treat you properly.” Good leaders know how to show this trait and people respect them for it.
Kindness. Ruling with an iron fist is not really the best thing to do. It shows fear and fear does not earn respect. Kind leaders are often respected by most people who wish to also be respected. When people are scared of a leader they’re more likely to turn their back on the person ruling with an iron fist.
So there you have it a bit of a summary on How to be a good leader. Responsibility, Respect and Kindness. These traits are the key things for a good leader. Hopefully for those who wish to become a leader you will take these traits as suggestions and keep them in mind.
Task Description: For this task I made a google doc and filed it. I wrote down things that make a good leader. I posted it onto my blog, making sure I posted it to a high standard with a Walt, a Task Description, and Labels.

Tea Bag Flame Science Explanation
Today in room four our teacher Mrs Stone decided to show us a tea bag trick. She got rid of the tea leaves inside of the tea bag and unfolded it. She made the teabag a pipe of sorts. Once she set it down on the chair she lit it on fire. The fire moved down the tea bag and then it flew into the air.
But why did it fly? How does it happen? Its all because of the heat. Heat is a form of energy and it always rises. Its like a hot air balloon the hot air that goes into the air pushes against the walls of the tea bag and once the fire reaches the bottom of the tea bag, the tea bag remains fly into the air.
If my explanation wasn't good enough click this link to understand further and see what i'm talking about.

Remake of Rumplestiltskin
Walt: use descriptive vocab to paint a picture in your readers mind
Once upon a time there was a miller and he had a beautiful daughter. One day the miller went to the king and boasted about how her daughter was amazing.
“She is the best girl in the land sire.” said the Miller “No one is fairer the her she has fair golden hair and glistening green eyes and uhh … she can do amazing things like weave gold from straw.”
That caught the kings attention. He ordered the miller to bring his daughter to the castle. He took the beautiful miller's daughter to the hay storage room.
“Make this straw into gold.” Said the King, and with that he slammed the door, locked it tight and walked to his buffet. The Miller's daughter wept and wept for she could only make straw into silver. Suddenly a little man came in.
“Do not worry” said the little man “I will spin this straw into gold for you. But what will you give me in return.”
“I will give you the ring from my finger” said the miller's daughter and she slid off the ring and gave it to the little man. By the time that the little man finished making the straw into gold. The little man disappeared from sight. The king came in and was impressed. He took her to a bigger room with even more straw
“Weave this straw into gold.” He said. “Have it done by the morning.
“But sire” said the miller’s daughter “all that weaving has weakened me. I can only weave silver now”
“Very well” said the king. “Weave the straw into silver.” He shut the door locked it tight and went to his brothers wedding. The miller’s daughter weaved the silver and never needed the little man again, and many years later she married the king and they had a beautiful baby boy and lived happily till the end of their lives
Task Description: For this task I made a new doc and selected a fairy tale. I then recreated the fairy tale

Why you should exercise and what it does for you? - By Bethan
Do you like running? No? Do you like dancing? Yes? They may be different but they give you the same results: They Both give you an adrenaline rush, they both give you sweaty pits, they are both aerobic exercise. Once you finish reading this piece of writing you will want to get up and go for a run, or go to zumba class, or do something that gets you sweating.
The first reason that you should be doing exercise right now is because It reduces the risks of obesity, stroke, heart disease and a whole lot more. Exercise helps you in so many ways it gets the heart pumping which gives oxygenated blood to the brain, you can see how that would help you in you term essay right. As well as giving good blood to the brain it gets your lungs working as well, meaning more oxygenated blood, meaning happy brain.
Exercise also helps the release of hormones which make your brain cells increase in growth rate. It helps refresh the brain plasticity which help form new connections in cells in a wide range of cortical areas in the brain. In a study done at the university of british columbia it has been proven that exercise helps increase the size of the hippocampus.
The final reason you should be exercising right now is because every time you sit down it increases the amount of energy that gets turn into fat. The more you exercise the more fat you burn. Many children these days are obese because they are sitting down more than they are running around doing exercise.
So get up off your butt and run around. Go to zumba! Why are you still here? Go away, stop reading this. I’m telling you to go away and ride your bike or walk your dog or do something that will get you sweating. Because that is the exercise that helps you get better in life.

How to save money
Walt: write explanation writing with good connectives.
Lots of people like there money they like it because it gives them lots of things like food clothes, accessories, and even animals but because of this it leads us to just one of the problems with money: Once you’ve finished spending it on things you don't need you hardly have any left. Do you want to find out how to save money? Well read this to find out.
My first tip is to stop. Stop shopping for things you don't need. Yes i’m talking to you unless you desperately need it or it's the holiday season or it's someone's birthday don't buy it. Lots of people like to buy nice pretty things therefore they have too many things they don’t need and too little thing they do need. Now this tip is not for everyone and every day but if you are trying to stay within the budget do not go op shopping until payday. If you are having trouble with this one move on to paragraph 2.
My second tip is to by cheaper things. I know they may be less quality than what you normally get but this will help you keep your budget a bit more balanced. I know what some of you must be thinking: where you go shopping it must be pretty expensive, but there are solutions just go to a different shop like kmart of the vege oasis. These shops use different and less popular brands making them a lot cheaper. If this isn’t working go onto paragraph 3.
My last tip is really simple but it's actually really hard for most people. Around 84 percent of the world’s population use electricity and power everyday. But lots of power companies use very important and rare resources making power very expensive. In Scotland when up on hills you can see the windmills from afar. The power companies use an important but common resource, Air. Making the power extremely cheap. But it still costs money. So you can guess what this suggestion is use less power try to watch less tv and have shorter showers this can be really hard but look at the calendar payday might be close so it will only be for a short while.
I know that these suggestions may be a bit hard but in the end I know you can all do it. Just don’t give it up and persevere. Once you set yourself to do these things it won't be hard. Remember to : Stop buying things you don't need, Buy cheaper things, and Use less power.
Task Description: For this task I made a new dock and put it in my writing folder. I then started writing my work. I highlighted the conectives in green so i share my knowledge about connectives and give people advice. i then posted it onto my blog with a Walt, a Task Description, Labels and a Title.

Term 4 Immersion Assembly
WALT: use exciting language in a recount
The school theme is Musical madness which as you know is all about music. We started the immersion assembly with doing the team items, most of the items were about how music makes us feel and how we react to different types of music. Some of the teams are making their own soundtracks. Other kids in my class would have a favourite but i don’t the items were all just too good.

I think that this term is going to be amazing. Don’t you think so too? I can’t wait for us to start learning about music.
Task Description: for this task I made a copy of a template and then put it in my writing folder. We all did the paragraphs together as a class so that no one was behind. I then posted it onto my blog with a Title, a Walt, a Task Description and Labels.

Cross Country
Walt: Structure A Recount
On Friday the 1 September we had the cross country. Everyone was wearing mufti, they had to wear the colour of their house colour. Do you like cross country?
On Friday the 1 September we had the cross country. Everyone was wearing mufti, they had to wear the colour of their house colour. Do you like cross country?
Before the race began the house captains had to share their cants. While i was waiting for the race to begin, my friends and I were chatting, playing hand games and singing along to the songs. We were chillin’ out in the sun and I finally found my purpose in life, and that was to play in the sun and be free. Then Mrs Nua told us to come up to the starting line
I was filled with butterflies and i started to get nervous, but i shoved all that down. I let my excitement take over. The clapper clapped i ran and i actually wasn’t last this time. I tried to catch up to the front and i ran. I was filled with determination it was a long race but i was going to make it short. I ran with Ayla because some of my friends were faster than me, and some we're slower and i was in between but that didn’t mean i wasn’t having a hard time with Ayla because she was fast and we we're jogging. Then i saw the finish line.
I ran and ran I huffed and puffed and held my stitch all at the same time, and i finally passed the finish line. I whooped. I saw my dad and stepmum and i went to get my water. Once i had my water i went to give my dad a hug because it was his birthday, he was so proud. When i sat down, miss kathy poured her water on my legs! It was the best cross country i had ever had.
Next time instead of letting my legs feel weak, I will just try and sprint the whole way. I will also try to encourage others more instead of just running past them. I learned that if you have a determined spirit and run the whole way you can make 1.5 km feel like a few meters.
Task Description: For this task i did the cross country on Friday the 1st of September. Then I had to remember the events and what happened. I put it all in a template and then pasted it onto my blog. Before i published I put in a title a Walt, labels, and a task description.

Term 2 Summary
Walt: Summarise and reflect on what we have learnt
Task Description: For this task i made a copy of the blank presentation and then put it in my reading folder. it was a part of my reading learning to summarise and reflect what we have been learning about as you can see it has the order of what it probably went in.
When I had finished the presentation i made a screen cast using screencastify. screencastify is the app that we can use on our Chromebooks. The app looks like a film strip and it is in the top of your screen, once you have made a screen cast you get it in a folder of your drive called Screencastify . Once i had downloaded it onto my drive i then posted it onto my blog with a Title, a Walt, a Task Description and Labels.

Me Being A Food Critic
Walt: express our personal opinions
Salted caramel chocolate sensation
The product is salted caramel, and i think it was delicious.
The product was very good. There were salty caramel chunks in the chocolate. The chocolate was very melty and very nice, it smelt a bit like dirt and I like that.
I really liked the cadbury chocolate product salted caramel. It is part of the cadbury range. It's three dollars ninety nine and very good so i recommend it. It smelt like the earthy smell of trees and dirt and i really love that earthy smell. I also think that it is really good and the price is o for awesome.
I think that the cadbury salted caramel was very good. The only problem I had with it was the salted taste because it had a bit too much salt. But other than that I loved the earthy smell and the texture and taste of the chocolate.

Castaway Writting
Walt: write from the first person
I walk around then find some logs sticks and fronds i think out loud to myself: “well the sun's getting real low so i have to build a shelter.” I gather up all the materials i need so i can build a shelter. I start to wander and find this clearing in the woods. I start to lay my things out. I find these stumps just lying there must have been dead trees. I build a shelter.
I am so hungry i haven’t eaten for days i could eat a whole island. I look around the beach and find these oysters. I lick my lips. Grab a sharp stick and SNAP! “The stick broke! Those must be strong oysters” I said i start to look around and find a rock, it looks like the head of a spear “PERFECT!” I cry out. I grab the rock and wedge it into the bottom part of the oyster. It's a bit hard at first but the oyster starts to loose it's grip. It's off the rock i decide to eat it then look at the ocean it's full of tropical fish. My stomach grumbles. I gather some flax and shells and go to my rock anvil i start to rub the shell on the rock it starts to turn into powder i shape it into the shape of a hook. I tie it to the flax rope i made by plaiting it. I put the oyster on the hook and fish. I got it!
I think it's time to make a signal. I gather some materials. Including :coconut shavings, a rock, a piece of wood, and a stick. I make a little tinder nest and put a notch in the wood i put bark in under the notch and then rub with the stick and “FIRE!” i cry happily “now i can be rescued”
After making lots of smoke by putting in a lot fronds on it. I here a helicopter coming and it is loud! I don't think i have seen or heard a helicopter in years. I start putting more fronds on the fire and then start to make smoke signals and the helicopter lowers down a rope. I climb on and they pull it up.

Task Description: For this task i made a copy of a writing template from the class site. The class did the paragraphs bit by bit together timed. I had to make a picture in hyperstudio and emailed it to myself. I posted it on my blog with, a Walt, a Task Description, a Title, and Labels.

Immersion Assembly
“Line Up!” Shouted Mr Goodwin “Everybody Line Up for immersion assembly!” we lined up for immersion assembly and then we went to the hall. The hall was Playing a song called Bright Idea by Vitamin D it matched the theme called Now That's Thinking It was all about Technology. Before the teams did their items Mr Burt told us a story of Manaiakalani.

I hope that we get to learn about how the Maori People hunted their food and built their homes and Marae. I also want to learn about how the Maori moved their supplies and things like that. I hope that we can make our own mini waka too. I think that we are going to learn about how the Maori moved around, cured colds and hunted their food.
I am excited for this term because it is based on technology and history and they are 2 of my favourite things. I think we are going to find out a lot about the Maori. I am super excited about Term 2. I can’t wait to start researching.

At The Beach
What’s your favourite thing to do at the beach? I like to swim, I also like to dig holes in the soggy part of the beach. Do you like to swim.
Today I went to the beach with my Step Aunty and Step mum and Dad my cousins came as well they are so cute. One is Called Elise she is the oldest and the younger one Is Ayla. we went to the beach and got our clothes all wet and sandy. I went into the water and my objective was to have nothing above the water. But i had to keep my head above the water so I could breath.
Serj the dog Aunty Becca (Step Aunt) owns loves to play fetch so we got a stick and threw it to him. We threw it in the water in the sand and he could not stop running. Roman and Kauri did races and Justice made his little island out of sticks and wet sand. It was very stable.
In the end we went back home Justice went in Aunty Becca’s car and Elise stayed in our car. Before we went in the cars though I gave Elise a piggy back ride with the jacket on top and Justice held Ayla in the baby strap thingy.

Estuary
Walt: Synthesise information from across multiple texts.
We have been trying to understand that plants play a big part in the ecosystem of an estuary. The plants eat the sunlight and then the mud snails, marine worms and crabs eat the plants. The shellfish and young fish eat the mud snails, crabs, and the marine worms. The older fish and the birds eat the smaller predators. Then the humans eat the older fish. Plants play an important role in an ecosystem so let’s keep them safe.

Cricket Snack
Walt: Write a Narrative using interesting Vocab
Have you ever eaten real dead crickets before? Because we ate some at school, I think Mrs Stickland might have gone crazy. Today was not a normal Thursday. Today was a day I would never forget the taste of the healthy protein snack.
When i saw other people eating crickets I felt like they we're ok at first, and then the faces came. I saw Daisy could not even have some for 3 seconds. Naomi had watering eyes and Chastyti did not even want to eat it. My turn came and I had eaten the cricket and then I felt all revolting.
From now on I will never look at a cricket the same way. They’re disgusting. I hate to think that people eat bugs can you imagine everyone eating bugs. It Is never going to happen again i think crickets are bird food.
Task Description; For this task I made a copy of a presentation and put it in my writing folder. I did the experience before and yes they were real crickets. I posted it on my blog to a high standard with a Walt a task description and labels, and a title.

Corkious vs Demon Hunter spider

Walt: write narrative using descriptive language.
The first insect to make a move is the Corkious the armoured beetle gives the spider a swing with the cork on his back the spider takes really hard damage. The spider shoots it's web at the cork on the Corkious' back. The spider rips it off. The Corkious does not care he grows it back. The Corkious strikes many blows on the spider again and again the spider takes very heavy damage.
The spider has taken lots of damage now some of it's guts are spilling. If the demon hunter spider takes another hit from the Corkious and then it will be done. Unfortunately the Corkious is using the spiders distraction as a weapon and strikes him. The spider has been defeated and the Corkious feasts.
