Looking at Cheek cells

Today we decided to look at dead cheek cells. I was in a group with Paikea and Amelia. The first thing we had to do was get our slide and put our initials on it so we would know who's was who's. Once we had done that I gently scraped the sides of my mouth. Then I rubbed my saliva onto the slide. A drop sodium chloride so the cells would spread out and some stain so its easier to see. We drew the cells on green paper because its apart of observing things. We noticed that we could still see the organelles insinde of the Cells as we moved up.

What is science?

Task Description: For this task I made a copy of the presentation and filed it into my reading folder. I then read the required texts for the first 2 slides and finished the questions on said 2 slides. I then watched the Charles Darwin video and wrote about him. I then watched the Rachel Carson video and wrote about her. I then posted the presentation onto my blog and made sure it was published to a high standard.

What do I know about Scientists?

Scientists probably have the most stereotypical expectations in our modern day society. But they aren't actually what they seem. I mean look at Neil deGrasse Tyson. If you look at him and don't know who he is. He looks like a normal person.

Scientists study the things around us and how they work. They don't Mix potions together and then test them on themselves. They test chemical reactions and look in microscopes to see the smallest things in the world. They don't Harness the suns power to make an ultimate death ray.

Scientists work to find understanding of the world around us and the things inside us. They are not makers of destruction. They are finders of Solutions.

Tea Bag Flame Science Explanation

Today in room four our teacher Mrs Stone decided to show us a tea bag trick. She got rid of the tea leaves inside of the tea bag and unfolded it. She made the teabag a pipe of sorts. Once she set it down on the chair she lit it on fire. The fire moved down the tea bag and then it flew into the air.

But why did it fly? How does it happen? Its all because of the heat. Heat is a form of energy and it always rises. Its like a hot air balloon the hot air that goes into the air pushes against the walls of the tea bag and once the fire reaches the bottom of the tea bag, the tea bag remains fly into the air.

Cinquain Poem

Walt: Understand A Cinquain Poem




Task Description: for this task I made a copy of the cinquain poem that Mrs Stickland put on the class site and forgot to put it in my writing folder. I finished all the slides and then posted on my blog to a high standard. I put on a Title the Walt, a Task Description, and Labels

Solids Liquids and Gasses.

Walt: Write a rap.

We spent the term learning about the changing states of matter. We found out loads throughout the term and learnt lots of new vocab. I decided to share my learning by writing and performing a rap! I wrote a list of all the new and related words that I had learned about the changing states of matter. I started putting words together that rhymed and ended up with this. 

I used a voice recorder from my chromebook, and found a free to use sound file from youtube. I put them together to make my rap.

This is a rap about solids liquids and gasses its name is Solids Liquids and Gasses. The sound track that I used for it is not me actually playing the piano. Here is a link to it you may use it on any of your raps. This sound track is for my animation. 

Task Description: For this task I had to gather specific information about the three main states of matter. When I found this specific information using the links on the class site I made a doc in my writing folder and then wrote myself a rap. I looked at some rap instrumental and then when I found myself the perfect beat I used voice recorder. I put it in google drive. I then posted it on my blog With A Title, Walt, Task Description and Labels
