The Sniper

Task Description: For this task I made a copy of the presentation, and put it into my reading folder. I then read the text. I was given a list of words that were, new to all of the members of the class, and we had to find the definition. On top of that we had to answer questions about the book. We were mainly thinking about language features and which words the author uses. I then posted it onto my blog with Title a Walt, Labels and a Task Description.

Let america be America again

The poem "Let america be America again" by Langston Hughes, talks about the issues of america in the nineteen twenties. Such as gender and race discrimination. As well as the issues around poverty and wealth.

In the parentheses after almost every paragraph, the author makes a point. He says "America was never America to me anyway" meaning that he never thought of america as a dream land anyway. I think this might have to do with the fact that he was an African American man living in a time where you were judged by the colour of your skin. So he wrote that line in the parentheses to give us another reason he gave us this poem.

The poem illustrates the fact that America is not the dreamland it is supposed to be. It says that young men are taking what they want with no regard to the people suffering because of them. This specific stanza was a big help in figuring out the time this was written and it is clear that this was in the time of the great depression. America was most definitely not a dreamland-at least not for the lower class people-it was probably the opposite.

The final stanza talks about making America America again. I believe that it was so that he could encourage people to change the country. He says it in a poetic chant kind of way which makes you feel as if it is a protest. Langston Hughes really cared about his country.

The poem was a very complex work of writing. It was hard to understand at first but after learning some words I got a grip on what he was saying. His poem was really inspiring and it opened my eyes.

DLO Link

Click this link to view my DLO (Digital Learning Object).

The topic for this term was really interesting. I liked learning about other countries, and I learned some interesting facts. Learning about the countries helped open my eyes about the world around me. It was really fun.

Using the scratch was nothing new to me really. I used broadcast and it was a pain. I'm gonna have one giant block of code and no broadcast.  I will no longer be using broadcast.

Tasting Food

Image result for pan au chocolatImage result for OlivesOn Tuesday the eleventh of June, we all had some food to eat. Bruschetta with olive oil sprinkled on top, two black olives, a piece of feta cheese and Pan au Chocolat. The Bruschetta tasted like slightly sweeter bread than usual and the olive oil is a nice dressing. The olives would have been better but they had been on the plate for a while and they we're a bit dry but still a nice refreshment. The Feta cheese was very rich and I loved that, nice and strong. The Pan au chocolat was delicious nice sweet bread and light chocolate. A tingle on the taste buds!

Greece

Greece is a country in Europe. It has thousands of islands that are located in the aegean and ionian seas. The official language of greece is greek and there are around 10.77 million people living in greece.

History

Greece was very influential in the past and the ancient Greeks are known as the founders of the modern world. Before the civilisation of ancient Greece the Greeks lived in scattered farming villages all around the country and islands. Over the years the population grew and the villages grew as well. The Greeks then started up a government and started to create laws. They started up armies and collected taxes and each city or state had a patron god or goddess. The ancient Greek gods and myths are still a popular subject to this day.

Culture and Traditions

Culture and traditions are a very important aspect to the Greek culture. There are traditions from either religious character or paganism. Traditions and superstitions vary from island to island, Region to Region. They have many celebrations such as Name day celebration, Carnivals or Apokries, Clean Monday and more.

Wildlife

Greece has more to offer than amazing mythology and cliff side cities, Greece also has great wildlife and plants. In the Findus mountains you can find brown bears The Eurasian lynx and the western roe deer live in Greece’s mountainous regions and in the south, the wild boar and brown hare can still be found. The golden jackal and the western European hedgehog also live in the south.

So there you have it a short report on Greece I hope you enjoyed this small amount of information and facts. I hope you enjoyed and have a good day ya’ll.

Rich and Famous P.O.V

Walt: Consider Both sides of an argument

In my personal opinion I think that being Rich and famous in a celebrity situation wouldn’t really make me happy. For a lot of celebrities being rich and famous is just a homing beacon for paparazzi or scandal or social media. A lot of celebrities that are children of other celebrities are also pressured like everyone is expecting them to be almost as good as their parents, but they want to be something different than their parents.

To be honest I think I would just want to be rich. Because I could get a lot of opportunities that not much people could get. I could help my children and family and that is what would make me Happy. I think that I would rather help people than entertain people in music and movies I would make a lot of money being a doctor or surgeon.

But some famous people aren’t celebrities. Some are really famous authors like J.K Rowling and Rick Riordan. They don’t earn as much money as the celebrities but they are pretty famous and they seem happy because people aren’t as obsessed with them. So I think I might like to be an author fame wise. That would be the only fame that would make me happy.

Task Description: For this task I made a google doc and started writing my opinion on wealth and fame on the doc. I then shared it onto the class discussion. after i shared it onto the class discussion i posted it onto my blog with a Walt, a Task Description, a Title, and Labels.

Remake of Rumplestiltskin

Walt: use descriptive vocab to paint a picture in your readers mind

Once upon a time there was a miller and he had a beautiful daughter. One day the miller went to the king and boasted about how her daughter was amazing.

“She is the best girl in the land sire.” said the Miller “No one is fairer the her she has fair golden hair and glistening green eyes and uhh … she can do amazing things like weave gold from straw.”

That caught the kings attention. He ordered the miller to bring his daughter to the castle. He took the beautiful miller's daughter to the hay storage room.

“Make this straw into gold.” Said the King, and with that he slammed the door, locked it tight and walked to his buffet. The Miller's daughter wept and wept for she could only make straw into silver. Suddenly a little man came in.

“Do not worry” said the little man “I will spin this straw into gold for you. But what will you give me in return.”

“I will give you the ring from my finger” said the miller's daughter and she slid off the ring and gave it to the little man. By the time that the little man finished making the straw into gold. The little man disappeared from sight. The king came in and was impressed. He took her to a bigger room with even more straw

“Weave this straw into gold.” He said. “Have it done by the morning.

“But sire” said the miller’s daughter “all that weaving has weakened me. I can only weave silver now”

“Very well” said the king. “Weave the straw into silver.” He shut the door locked it tight and went to his brothers wedding. The miller’s daughter weaved the silver and never needed the little man again, and many years later she married the king and they had a beautiful baby boy and lived happily till the end of their lives
