     Caged Bird

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed  for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom .

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

New Vocabulary: trill, seldom,

Metaphor

Metaphor

Why should Facebook be more Vigilant when it comes to Underage users?

Do you have a Facebook account? If you do and you’re under 13 then you aren’t really following the law.
Facebook is a social media site that used to be one of the biggest social media sites in the world.
But not everything about social media is true.

There are people on the world wide web who aren’t really the most responsible, and because they can’t
target adults who are smarter than children, they target children. Children don’t know what to do so they
do what there instincts tell them, their instincts aren’t always right. Children usually end up doing what
the person tells then to do, and once it’s done it can’t be undone. That is what children don’t understand.

For Facebook users under the age of 13, Facebook and social media isn’t the safest place,
because there are a lot of bad influential content that is not  suitable for younger users.
If an account with a under-aged user is found Facebook must be provided with information that shows
their over 13. It would be more suitable if under-aged kids could be banned because they haven’t really
experienced the world of social activities.

Another reason that not many people take into consideration when they sign someone up is that the
person could make a secret account and then be cyberbullies. They end up hurting other people and
then they get caught. The parents end up finding out and the parents get the blame because they are
responsible because they gave their kid and account.

So here are three reasons Facebook should be more vigilant when it comes to underage users.
Inexperience in social activities, bad people on the internet, and potential cyberbullying. Facebook has
too many underage users and should be more persistent and vigilant when it comes to the law.

Visual mihi

This is my visual mihi. It shows me in the middle and the four things I like around my portrait.
I'll start from the top left. As you can see it is a wolf howling to a full moon this represents my love of wolves and the moon. I have managed to show two of my fascinations using the Wolf howling at the moon.
The top right shows my love of reading and it shows some of my most favourite books. It shows The school for good and evil book 1 to 4, The blue books are the lunar chronicles The book that has white and blue is The diary of a young girl by Anne Frank,  and the grey books are the miss peregrines peculiar children trilogy.
The bottom left shows my favourite sports tennis and Netball.
The bottom right shows my favourite TV show "The Dragon Prince" I also like "She-ra the princesses of power" and "Voltron Legendary Defender".

Dear Reader: A Satire Writing

Walt: use satire to express meaning

Dear Reader
You MUST read the piece of writing under this letter. It is my best piece of work. Based around the story of a young girl and her dog. You must read it because it is the best piece of writing you will ever encounter in your miserable life. Ha it might even make your life happy.

Be warned though it will jerk tears into your eyes and pull on your heart-

Woah woah woah. Just wait a minute here .You seriously can’t just be lying in your letter to your readers.

Heh Heh what are you talking about? Me the legendary Safrina lie to her beloved readers.

Yeah you’ve done it before. Remember Swashbucklers of  Davanet. That story sucked. And it was written by you, the “legendary magnificent”  Safrina Belladonna.

Don’t be ridiculous Mabel Darling. Swashbucklers of Davanet was a wonderful piece of writing. It had five stars on Safrina Reviews.

That’s because Safrina Reviews is your YouTube channel. It has 6 subscribers and they’re all your family members.

Nonsense it has 7 subscribers. But that’s not the point. Now let me finish my letter.

Huff. Fine. But i’m warning you reader her writing isn’t the best. It's the “most amazing in the world”.

Thank you Mabel! Now where was I ah yes. Read the story and subscribe to my YouTube channel Safrina Reviews. Here is the writing. Enjoy. Lots of love and merci. Safrina Belladonna

Once upon a time there was a girl and a dog the girl loved the dog but the dog didn’t love her. So with lots of treats and tummy rubs the girl one the dogs cupboard love. They are the best of friends. The end.

Safrina I honestly have no idea how you pay your bills.

I work as a waitress at the coffee club

Oh well that's an okay job

True

P.S. your writing sucks.

Mabel!

How to save money

Walt: write explanation writing with good connectives.

Lots of people like there money they like it because it gives them lots of things like food clothes, accessories, and even animals but because of this it leads us to just one of the problems with money: Once you’ve finished spending it on things you don't need you hardly have any left. Do you want to find out how to save money? Well read this to find out.

My first tip is to stop. Stop shopping for things you don't need. Yes i’m talking to you unless you desperately need it or it's the holiday season or it's someone's birthday don't buy it. Lots of people like to buy nice pretty things therefore they have too many things they don’t need and too little thing they do need. Now this tip is not for everyone and every day but if you are trying to stay within the budget do not go op shopping until payday. If you are having trouble with this one move on to paragraph 2.

My second tip is to by cheaper things. I know they may be less quality than what you normally get but this will help you keep your budget a bit more balanced. I know what some of you must be thinking: where you go shopping it must be pretty expensive, but there are solutions just go to a different shop like kmart of the vege oasis. These shops use different and less popular brands making them a lot cheaper. If this isn’t working go onto paragraph 3.

My last tip is really simple but it's actually really hard for most people. Around 84 percent of the world’s population use electricity and power everyday. But lots of power companies use very important and rare resources making power very expensive. In Scotland when up on hills you can see the windmills from afar. The power companies use an important but common resource, Air. Making the power extremely cheap. But it still costs money. So you can guess what this suggestion is use less power try to watch less tv and have shorter showers this can be really hard but look at the calendar payday might be close so it will only be for a short while.

I know that these suggestions may be a bit hard but in the end I know you can all do it. Just don’t give it up and persevere. Once you set yourself to do these things it won't be hard. Remember to : Stop buying things you don't need, Buy cheaper things, and  Use less power.

Task Description: For this task I made a new dock and put it in my writing folder. I then started writing my work. I highlighted the conectives in green so i share my knowledge about connectives and give people advice. i then posted it onto my blog with a Walt, a Task Description, Labels and a Title.

Digital Nations 2030

On Monday the 19th of February, the year 7&8 extension group went to Cordis hotel in the big city.
We went there to experience an event called, digital nations 2030. We went into the crystal room (it
wasn’t actually made out of crystals) and got introduced to a whole bunch of people from omg tech and code
avengers they had a little talk with us and then sent us off.

The first thing I did was makey makey with food. There was peaches a banana and chocolates. I have to
admit I ate one or two of the chocolates but nothing else. I then moved on to robots which was really
easy because i’d done it before. Then I moved onto the code avengers puzzle quiz thingy. I spun the
wheel and then got a chocolate.

Overall I learnt that robots are really annoying and have to have everything perfect. I learnt that you can
do makey makey with fruit and food products and I learnt that numbers in code can make letters on a
screen.

3rd Paideia Seminar

On Tuesday the 19th of September the extension group had a 3rd Paideia Seminar. The main statement was does civilisation really matter? We were put into groups according to the planets we were in. We started to make an effective argument about does civilisation really matter. I talked a lot but i tried to make people have 3 ticks instead of 2. We started talking about our planets and Naomi said her planet was the best but I think that my planet Hauhunga is the best planet because it is a winter wonderland and it was probably the best planet to adapt to because it is almost exactly like Antarctica.
