This year extension was really fun.
The first term Was about the treaty of waitangi and game design. We had to come up with a game to explain the treaty of waitangi.
The second term was all about Technology, navigation, coding and game making, and finding a solution to world problems. We had to try and design something that could make recycling easier.
For term 3 we focused on science and the living world. Sustainability for our Lakes and Oceans. We also had to create our Film festival movie.
Term 4 was all about UV light. We had to learn about how the light works and what energy it gives off as well as create a UV sensor that tells us the levels of UV light.
This is a record of my time at Pt England School in Auckland, New Zealand..

Victoria Park
The students who went to KPMG had to make different movies about different things. We had to do Victoria park so we took a tour and learnt a little bit more about the history and layout of it. I hope you learn something too.

Digital Nations 2030
On Monday the 19th of February, the year 7&8 extension group went to Cordis hotel in the big city.
We went there to experience an event called, digital nations 2030. We went into the crystal room (it
wasn’t actually made out of crystals) and got introduced to a whole bunch of people from omg tech and code
avengers they had a little talk with us and then sent us off.

The first thing I did was makey makey with food. There was peaches a banana and chocolates. I have to
admit I ate one or two of the chocolates but nothing else. I then moved on to robots which was really
easy because i’d done it before. Then I moved onto the code avengers puzzle quiz thingy. I spun the
wheel and then got a chocolate.

Overall I learnt that robots are really annoying and have to have everything perfect. I learnt that you can
do makey makey with fruit and food products and I learnt that numbers in code can make letters on a
screen.

Rubric Reflection Term 2
I think that my Rubric was very good because I got 28 out of 30 out of everyone in my Extension group which I think is not very fair because they did as much work as I did. But that does not mean I want to get 100 percent next time. Next time I want to get a 5 out of 5 in Key Competencies and a 5 out of 5 in planning research. Next time I will work harder.

Back in Da Day
This year in term 2 the year 5 and 6 extension students were chosen to make a mini production about technology. It was about how technology had changed over time because we were learning about technology. We had to make our own costumes, songs, backdrops as well as some music. The Production was the first ever made by an Extension group in the history of Pt England School. If you are wondering about what the production was like because you haven't watched it yet well here is a little sneak peek. The theme of the production was about technology and time travel. We did a lot of research on our chosen groups as well using google to find out the history on the things used to make a production. The reason we made this production was to share the bad influence that technology can have on us. For example, we loose our chance to socialise, we loose our chance to experience things some people don't experience and we loose our chance to have some quality time with our Family. So, if you think you want to go on our device think of things you could do in the backyard, front garden or even at the playground... don't just rely on your device!

Paideia Seminar - 'Pollution'

Tuesday, 4 April 2017
Emma the Eel and Diana the Duck
Task Description:
For this task we were all put into groups. The following groups were: the people who were looking at the perspective of the animals, the people who were looking through the eyes of children, the people who were looking through the eyes of the caregivers and there were the people who were looking through the eyes of the conservationists.
We were given an assignment to make a D.L.O (a digital learning object). Through the process of making this I learnt that the more we affect the waterways we affect ourselves. Health conditions that may result from drinking water laced with chemicals or toxic waste include organ failure, physical deformities and even death. That is why we must keep our waterways clean, both for us know but others in the future.

Polution Letter

Thursday 25 August 2016
Dear Prime Minister John Key,
Hello My name is Bethan. I am a year five student at Pt England School. I am writing this letter to you to talk about something horrible that is getting worse every second of the day. POLLUTION. Every second of the day our environment is being littered. This is what I want to talk to you about.
To stop this you could probably put up bins our do some sort of competition or give people fines or even put it up on billboards. Animals are dying because of this. There are several garbage patches in the pacific ocean and it is our job to stop them from growing.
If you are not interested in this letter that I am writing to you then you will regret it in the future. If you do not do something then your favourite NZ animal will probably become extinct. In fact the human species might even become endangered, died out in fact. We have to stop it now. If you want to see a video about it then you should click this LINK

Narative Writing.
Her fists tight, her heart pounding she new she was in grave danger. The princess of the Ngapuhi tribe, she knew she was doing what her father did not want her to do but it was for her people. The invaders were coming to New Zealand. But she did not know they had a surprise for them. Keriana was the princess of the Ngapuhi tribe and had disobeyed her father’s orders by leading the defence for her people. She had a think about it at the blue brook of Ngapuhi and decided to do it for her people.
They went out to the beach called Ukutoia. She was scared but there was no sight of the odd waka and Keriana wondered how her father knew about it. She saw a messenger and he said handing her a scroll “the invaders are coming soon, this is for your mother.” Worried she said “you take it to her". "Your mother and the rest of the tribe are in the shelters.” She sounded brave but she was really scared.
They waited for them to arrive. Out of the large waka came a strange pale faced man with an evil look on his face. Suddenly a large group of men jumped out of the waka and began to attack their tribe with their guns. Keriana had never seen these people or their guns before. The leader of the enemy gave an order to fire. Keriana had a feeling this would be the end of her.
“Retreat!” shouted Keriana as there were only about fifty people left. Her lovely brown face turned bright red she had been told to do this for her father and she did not want to fail. She went to her great grandmother Meriana she asked for he help. She smiled “child you have no defence against these invaders the only way is befriending.” She said. Keriana was so scared she forgot to breath she could not befriend. Then it struck her she just had aggressive men she needed… women the perfect solution.
She went to the shelters told her mother and she agreed. She stood in the assembly area and spoke “ women of ngapuhi I know that you are scared you must be brave all you think you are is just weak and defenseless but you are much more. What I see are beautiful warriors ready to show off what beauty you have. Are you ready.” With Brave looks on their faces they nodded. She assembled the women. Keriana said “my mother is going to stay, I do not want her dead.”
The women went on to the beach and started to sing and dance there Kapa Haka and even did a Powhiri. The invaders looked confused, but also the ladies we're very pretty. Captain Cook liked Keriana the most who had the full dress and even the tattoos. They followed them to the marae. Where there we're men they looked like kind nice men. They we're even more confused then they disappeared a little girl and boy came out of nowhere they started dancing and then the rest of the group came out to their surprise they had 2 year olds doing it too the next performance was a join in which was when they joined in doing it. They sang and danced through the night until Captain Cook said “ I will declare this land free”. For all that happened Keriana had met a man and fell in love she is now a chiefess

Extension MTV and Compare Contrast
Simon Group MTV from Team 4 Pes on Vimeo.
For Extension this Term we had to create a movie explaining what the pt England way is all about. We had to use special cameras for recording and import the footage on to imovie. We had to do it in a group. The people in my group were. Simon as leader, me ho did most of the editing, Ana L, Paikea, and Noah.
The reason why my movie was really short was because we didn't have much time to record but we at least we got footage.
Walt : Make a presentation with the differences of how our parents learnt and how we learnt.
