Today in room four our teacher Mrs Stone decided to show us a tea bag trick. She got rid of the tea leaves inside of the tea bag and unfolded it. She made the teabag a pipe of sorts. Once she set it down on the chair she lit it on fire. The fire moved down the tea bag and then it flew into the air.
But why did it fly? How does it happen? Its all because of the heat. Heat is a form of energy and it always rises. Its like a hot air balloon the hot air that goes into the air pushes against the walls of the tea bag and once the fire reaches the bottom of the tea bag, the tea bag remains fly into the air.
If my explanation wasn't good enough click this link to understand further and see what i'm talking about.
This is a record of my time at Pt England School in Auckland, New Zealand..

Dear Reader: A Satire Writing
Walt: use satire to express meaning
Dear Reader
You MUST read the piece of writing under this letter. It is my best piece of work. Based around the story of a young girl and her dog. You must read it because it is the best piece of writing you will ever encounter in your miserable life. Ha it might even make your life happy.
Be warned though it will jerk tears into your eyes and pull on your heart-
Woah woah woah. Just wait a minute here .You seriously can’t just be lying in your letter to your readers.
Heh Heh what are you talking about? Me the legendary Safrina lie to her beloved readers.
Yeah you’ve done it before. Remember Swashbucklers of Davanet. That story sucked. And it was written by you, the “legendary magnificent” Safrina Belladonna.
Don’t be ridiculous Mabel Darling. Swashbucklers of Davanet was a wonderful piece of writing. It had five stars on Safrina Reviews.
That’s because Safrina Reviews is your YouTube channel. It has 6 subscribers and they’re all your family members.
Nonsense it has 7 subscribers. But that’s not the point. Now let me finish my letter.
Huff. Fine. But i’m warning you reader her writing isn’t the best. It's the “most amazing in the world”.
Thank you Mabel! Now where was I ah yes. Read the story and subscribe to my YouTube channel Safrina Reviews. Here is the writing. Enjoy. Lots of love and merci. Safrina Belladonna
Once upon a time there was a girl and a dog the girl loved the dog but the dog didn’t love her. So with lots of treats and tummy rubs the girl one the dogs cupboard love. They are the best of friends. The end.
Safrina I honestly have no idea how you pay your bills.
I work as a waitress at the coffee club
Oh well that's an okay job
True
P.S. your writing sucks.
Mabel!
Hey i’m a teller of the truth

Paideia Seminar Term 3 Yr 7&8 Extension.
Today in extension we had the Paideia seminar for term three. We were all split into different groups: The Nutritionists, Doctors, Parents, Shop Owners, Teachers. I was in the nutritionist group with Makayla. We shared different opinions about what we thought in our groups perspective. One of the most intriguing facts that i heard was what Justice said. He said that "50% of Maori adults are obese and 69% of pacific adult are obese" which was very scary for Mrs Lagitupu even got him to repeat it. I think it was the most interesting fact we heard. Another one of the most intriguing facts for me was that in America 600,000 people die every year because of heart disease.
The Paideia Seminar was a really interesting seminar of sharing facts and information. I achieved my goal as well: not to talk to much. Maybe you should get into practising like this it is a good skill to be able to develop language skills like that.

How to Prepare for the Cross Country
Walt: Use cause and effect language in our writing
In our school we have the cross country, and it is for all of the year groups. When we prepare for it we do a lot of running. But a big problem is we only prepare for the physical side of it, and that’s only running, we need to prepare for mental and physical challenges. When we run a short distance it is good for our mental and physical health because it is giving us boosts in our Mental and physical well being. But when we do a long distance we are scared for our physical side and that affects our mental well being. In this piece of writing I will give you tips on how to prepare yourself for the cross country.
To improve our mental health we can say to ourselves “I can do this” and “This will be great” you fake it till you make it and then it gets carried to your heart. When you’re running and you feel bad you can say encouraging things like “I will do this” and that seems to be really helpful. Professional athletes often have trouble with this but now is a good time for you to start.
That was mentally preparing what about physically preparing? Well good question. At school we do running but at home you can prepare well too. You can have a healthy balanced diet and get plenty of rest at home you will have lots of energy and it will be burned of. As well as some of your body fat. That gets burned when you do exercise and turns into energy.
When the race starts you can go at a nice easy jog. Because then you wouldn’t have burned up all your energy and won’t have trouble running the whole way. You can also pace yourself. Go nice and easy the entire way because then you won't have to stop or walk some parts.
Those are my tips for preparing for the cross country. I hope that they are useful to you. Who knows? You might even come first next time.
Task Description: For this task i made a new dock filed it and turned it in. I wrote in my Work using the structure T.I.I.C (Title,Introduction,Information,Conclusion). I then posted it onto my blog to a high standard.

Beach Life in the Country

Apollo's gift is a wonderful bliss
If I could i would bottle it up
In a jar or maybe even a cup
Then i could take it anywhere
And be in bliss everywhere
The sun warms the sand which slips through my fingers
And leaves a tingly feeling which always lingers
When we leave there's cows all over the road
we think we've past them But theirs more a whole load
This is what its like at the beach in the country
Where the beach is quiet and the road is crunchy

Rich and Famous P.O.V
Walt: Consider Both sides of an argument
In my personal opinion I think that being Rich and famous in a celebrity situation wouldn’t really make me happy. For a lot of celebrities being rich and famous is just a homing beacon for paparazzi or scandal or social media. A lot of celebrities that are children of other celebrities are also pressured like everyone is expecting them to be almost as good as their parents, but they want to be something different than their parents.
To be honest I think I would just want to be rich. Because I could get a lot of opportunities that not much people could get. I could help my children and family and that is what would make me Happy. I think that I would rather help people than entertain people in music and movies I would make a lot of money being a doctor or surgeon.
But some famous people aren’t celebrities. Some are really famous authors like J.K Rowling and Rick Riordan. They don’t earn as much money as the celebrities but they are pretty famous and they seem happy because people aren’t as obsessed with them. So I think I might like to be an author fame wise. That would be the only fame that would make me happy.
Task Description: For this task I made a google doc and started writing my opinion on wealth and fame on the doc. I then shared it onto the class discussion. after i shared it onto the class discussion i posted it onto my blog with a Walt, a Task Description, a Title, and Labels.

Remake of Rumplestiltskin
Walt: use descriptive vocab to paint a picture in your readers mind
Once upon a time there was a miller and he had a beautiful daughter. One day the miller went to the king and boasted about how her daughter was amazing.
“She is the best girl in the land sire.” said the Miller “No one is fairer the her she has fair golden hair and glistening green eyes and uhh … she can do amazing things like weave gold from straw.”
That caught the kings attention. He ordered the miller to bring his daughter to the castle. He took the beautiful miller's daughter to the hay storage room.
“Make this straw into gold.” Said the King, and with that he slammed the door, locked it tight and walked to his buffet. The Miller's daughter wept and wept for she could only make straw into silver. Suddenly a little man came in.
“Do not worry” said the little man “I will spin this straw into gold for you. But what will you give me in return.”
“I will give you the ring from my finger” said the miller's daughter and she slid off the ring and gave it to the little man. By the time that the little man finished making the straw into gold. The little man disappeared from sight. The king came in and was impressed. He took her to a bigger room with even more straw
“Weave this straw into gold.” He said. “Have it done by the morning.
“But sire” said the miller’s daughter “all that weaving has weakened me. I can only weave silver now”
“Very well” said the king. “Weave the straw into silver.” He shut the door locked it tight and went to his brothers wedding. The miller’s daughter weaved the silver and never needed the little man again, and many years later she married the king and they had a beautiful baby boy and lived happily till the end of their lives
Task Description: For this task I made a new doc and selected a fairy tale. I then recreated the fairy tale

Why you should exercise and what it does for you? - By Bethan
Do you like running? No? Do you like dancing? Yes? They may be different but they give you the same results: They Both give you an adrenaline rush, they both give you sweaty pits, they are both aerobic exercise. Once you finish reading this piece of writing you will want to get up and go for a run, or go to zumba class, or do something that gets you sweating.
The first reason that you should be doing exercise right now is because It reduces the risks of obesity, stroke, heart disease and a whole lot more. Exercise helps you in so many ways it gets the heart pumping which gives oxygenated blood to the brain, you can see how that would help you in you term essay right. As well as giving good blood to the brain it gets your lungs working as well, meaning more oxygenated blood, meaning happy brain.
Exercise also helps the release of hormones which make your brain cells increase in growth rate. It helps refresh the brain plasticity which help form new connections in cells in a wide range of cortical areas in the brain. In a study done at the university of british columbia it has been proven that exercise helps increase the size of the hippocampus.
The final reason you should be exercising right now is because every time you sit down it increases the amount of energy that gets turn into fat. The more you exercise the more fat you burn. Many children these days are obese because they are sitting down more than they are running around doing exercise.
So get up off your butt and run around. Go to zumba! Why are you still here? Go away, stop reading this. I’m telling you to go away and ride your bike or walk your dog or do something that will get you sweating. Because that is the exercise that helps you get better in life.

Sustaining Ourselves
Walt: address the factors that can affect our well being
Next to each of these scenarios write down which area of your wellbeing is being affected - social/whanau, spiritual, mental/emotional or physical. You might find that they affect more than one area
Going for a run
Playing a sports game with others
Going to church, the marae, temple...
Listening to your favourite music
Eating fresh fruit and vegetables
Learning from a grandparent or caregiver
Taking part in a cultural club or activity
Getting enough sleep
Imagine you are part of the following scenarios. Make a decision that will positively impact on your wellbeing and note which aspect of your wellbeing is affected.
You and your older brother have been given some money to buy food for you and your younger siblings for the next few days. You are tempted to buy take away, but you have to buy enough food for breakfast, lunch (for school/pre-school) and dinner for two days.
In this scenario I would count how much money there is look online at the shopping centers website and try to fit in the food with the amount of money i have been given.
You are having a really bad day and feel yourself getting angry and upset. You had a small argument with a friend earlier in the day, but you are now really angry at them. The bell will be ringing in ten minutes and you will have to sit next to this friend. What could you do?
I could Confidently walk towards my friend and sit down i would turn to her and apologise if he/she doesn’t reply then i will give them time to think about it if he/she forgives me then I will get back to being good friends
You have just changed schools and are missing your old friend and activities. At your old school you played for the school rugby team, but you have not played sport here, except for in P.E.
I would try to keep in touch with my old friends while Making new friends in school and I try out for the rugby team.
You are Tongan, but your parents were born and grew up in New Zealand. They taught you English since you were born so that you would find New Zealand life easier, but they did not teach you much Tongan. At school you see other students speaking Tongan and participating in Tongan clubs and dancing. Although you feel happy in New Zealand, you wish you could connect to your Tongan roots.
I would ask my parents about my roots and ask them to take me to my grandparents to learn the language and then I would participate in Tongan things.
Task Description: For this task I made a copy of the google doc and then put it in my inquiry folder. I then answered all the questions in a detailed manner. After finishing i published my work onto my blog with a detailed manner.

Decimals are fractions of 1 whole.
0.1 is 1/10.
0.01 is 1/100.
What is 2/10 as a decimal? 0.2
What is 6/10 as a decimal? 0.6
What is 7/100 as a decimal? 0.07
What is 18/100 as a decimal? 0.18
What is 1/1000 as a decimal? 0.001

What is 24/100 as a decimal? 0.24
What is 55/100 as decimal? 0.55
What is 12/10 as a decimal? 0.12
0.5 + 0.3 = 0.8
0.6 + 0.2 = 0.8
0.7 + 0.5 = 1.2
0.5 - 0.1 = 0.4
0.3 + 0.9 = 1.2
5/10 + 0.5 = 1
1/10 + 0.47 = 0.57
5/100 + 0.21 = 0.26
Task Description: For this task I made a copy of the doc and then put it into my Math Folder. I then answered all of the word questions and moved onto the symbol questions. When I finished I posted it onto my blog with a Title, a Walt, a Task Description, and Labels.
