I would like to be Prime minister

When I grow up I want to be the prime minister because i could do so many things to improve the country I could stop pollution. Make moving around the city much more fun (riding around on horses) and take the salaries of people who work hard and don’t get enough money to get enough money.

  1. Hi Bethan,

It is great to see you blogging with us this month! I can't believe that you're already on Day #14. Wow!

I think that you have come up with some really creative and original ideas for this activity. Pollution is most definitely a problem that we need to address, as is our transportation system here in Auckland. It can take me up to an hour and a half to drive to work when the traffic is slow. Crazy!

I like the idea of riding horses around. That would certainly reduce the amount of pollution that we have to deal with and reduce the number of cars on the road.

    Good thinking, Bethan!

I also like that you have suggested that we address pay issues with pay and ensure that everyone earns enough money to pay their bills and feed their families. That is so important, isn't it?

Keep up the great work, Bethan! I see that you've posted three other blogs so I will go and read those now!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

  2. This is my favourite post of yours, Bethan.

I really love the idea of everyone having horses... though in Auckland - a city of nearly 2 million people - that is a lot of horses. I think it might end up smelling like horse poop everywhere (unless we had a special cleaning system for the roads).

I used to live in Hanoi, in Vietnam. There everyone rides scooters everywhere. If we did that here, there would be a lot less traffic I think. But also it is also more dangerous than cars.

I LOVE that you want to make sure people get paid fairly. I know how hard it is to work in a factory or retail, and I also know how hard it is to work in an office, and how hard it is to be a teacher. People work hard. I am sure there are lots of solutions to this problem, and if we work together maybe we can find the right balance.

    Keep up that amazing spirit!

    1. Hi Mark
We probably will have a horse poop cleaning system. If we did have scooters around though did you know that MotorBikes and Motor scooters make more pollution than cars isn't that fascinating.

    2. Oh really? I didn't know that! I'm going to have to look that up. It sounds interesting.

    3. Hi Bethan!

I looked it up. It looks like you are correct! Motorcycles may be more fuel efficient, but they emit more polluting gasses (but less greenhouse gases luckily). This is generally due to car manufactures having more pressure put on them to produce cleaner cars, however that same pressure is only just recently being put on motorcycles.

The best thing about motorcyles is that the have a smaller manufacturing and recycle cost on the environment, and they use less gas per mile. This all contributes to something called their carbon footprint - or complete life cycle, which has not been measured properly yet as far as I can tell.

Hopefully more environmentally friendly motorbikes will be made soon, as I really enjoy riding and want to do so guilt-free! I wonder if there is a good electric engine available.

I hope you enjoyed the information I found : )

  3. Hi Bethan,

Watching TV has its uses after all! Love "The Myth Busters" and that these obscure facts are just sponging on into that marvellous brain of yours. xxx
